Independent Venue Week (27th Jan – 2nd Feb 2025) is the UK’s annual 7-day celebration of independent music & arts venues and the people that own, run and work in them.

Joshua Burnside - wight bear live - 6/3/24 - 8pm (doors 7pm)

Joshua Burnside is an experimental folk songwriter, singer and producer. He takes influence from alternative electronica and Irish folk, chopping and blending them with a mixture of found sounds, world music and unorthodox production methods.

His third album, Teeth Of Time, sits comfortably and confrontationally between the alt-folk realms of Bon Iver and Sufjan Stevens while retaining the indie singer-songwriter and traditional folk elements of Josh's signature songwriting.

THE OCELOTS - WIGHT BEAR LIVE - 9/3/2025 7PM (DOORS 6PM) - £12.50

The Ocelots are twin brothers Ashley and Brandon Watson from Wexford, Ireland. Building on the folk-rock essence of their debut, the duo are excited to announce the release of their second album, Everything, When Said Slowly, on February 7th 2025.

This album unveils a richer, more expansive sound, produced by long-time collaborators Cillian and Lorcan Byrne (Ailbhe Reddy, Susan O’Neill).

The narrative woven throughout the album explores themes of Irish migration, the perception of time, love, and the simple joys of cycling.  

To support the album, the band are delighted to take the the road in the UK for a string of dates around its release including us.

OISIN LEECH - WIGHT BEAR LIVE - 23/3/24 - 7PM (DOORS 6PM)

Oisin Leech, revered musician and one-half of The Lost Brothers, released his debut solo album Cold Sea, on March 8th 2024 via Outside Music and Tremone Records.

As 2024 closes it has been acknowledged as one of the best albums of the year, Oisin Leech now comes to The Wight Bear as part of his Uk tour.

After a packed month of November our Chinwag Sunday…saw Jonnie Day run up and down the short distance between Terroir Tapas where he had his Mother Clucking Chicken Shack Pop Up…

Sunday roast with a twist was delivered on a plate, Persian Spiced Chicken or Sopley Farm Cauliflower with Pomegranate Molasses Mop Glaze, Confit Saffron Pots, Sopley Farm Roots, Confit Lemon, Mint & Green Chilli, Wood Fired Aubergine Houmous..yum yum yum..

Belly full, comfort smiles abound…Chinwag resident Kev Mac rolls up and delivers a soulful set from 4pm to shuffle it off and Chinwag…what lovely bunch you are and what a lovely afternoon we had….
